CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Please forward to all who may be interested.

We are pleased to announce the first CCNx Community Meeting, a gathering for researchers and developers who are working with the CCNx Open Source platform for Information-Centric-Networking (ICN).  If you are interested in the CCNx platform for your own applications, or developing the CCNx platform itself, we hope that you will consider joining the conversation in September.  We invite participation from academic, industrial, and government institutions and hope to welcome representatives from major projects working with CCNx around the world.

The purpose of the meeting is to strengthen the community of CCNx users, developers, and researchers by discussing experiences, use cases, plans and potential collaborations. Focus topics include:

  • Application experiences
  • Experimental results
  • Use cases
  • Platform enhancements and roadmap
  • Testbed collaboration
  • Project CCNx organization

We plan to allow time for presentations, demonstrations, informal conversation, and plenary discussions.  The technical program will be assembled by a small program committee (to be named) based on submissions we receive.  We will end the day with a special evening social event at the nearby Computer History Museum, home to the largest international collection of computing artifacts in the world.

Attendance at this event is limited due to space constraints and the focused goals of the meeting.  If you are interested in attending, please request an invitation by sending a short note according to the submission instructions below.  There will be no charge to attend.  We encourage students to submit and faculty members to nominate their students.  Limited travel support may be offered through the generosity of corporate sponsors.

Records of the meeting will be captured and made available via the web, however this meeting is not designed to be a peer-reviewed scientific publication venue.

We are considering the possibility of hosting a few days of “CCNx Bootcamp” for hands-on coding help in the week following this meeting.  If you are interested in this, you must let us know in your submission (see below).  We anticipate that space will be very limited for this opportunity.

Corporate and institutional sponsorship opportunities are available; please write to the event information address below if you are interested.

SUBMISSION

We need to hear from you about your interests and what you can contribute! This is simple and lightweight: if you are interested in attending, please send an email message to the submissions address below with the following information:

  • Your current or anticipated work related to CCNx (1 short paragraph max)
  • Topics for the program that are of greatest interest to you (1 short paragraph max)
  • [Optional] Abstract of information or demonstration you could present during the meeting (1 short paragraph max).  If there are multiple distinct topics you could present, please include separate abstracts clearly distinguished.
  • [Optional] Note of interest in a “CCNx Bootcamp” following the meeting, with mention of subjects of greatest interest (1-2 sentences max)
  • [Optional] Note if your ability to attend is conditional on receiving travel support.

The total submission (with one abstract) must be no longer than one page of text with font size no smaller than 11 point (around 700 words total).  If there are multiple topic abstracts the submission may be proportionally longer up to two pages of text in total.  You may include the text in the body of the message or attach a PDF file – no other submission format will be considered.

Sending this email is not a commitment to attend.  You will have the opportunity to accept or decline an invitation after more information about the program is available.

Due to the very limited amount of time available in a one-day program, we anticipate that there will be many worthwhile topic proposals that cannot be given significant presentation time in plenary session.  You may be asked to present a poster and/or a demonstration, or share highlights in a short talk of 15-30 minutes.

Submission address: submissions@ccnx.org

Submission Deadline: Submissions with abstracts are required by May 16, 2011.  To request an invitation only, submission is required by July 27 but we encourage submission as soon as possible.
